UNHEARD VOICES

Rayshawn Smith is the founder and CEO of Unheard Voices and he created it in 2018 because he was on a mission to believe in himself again and to overcome the hardest obstacle in his life - recovering from being a victim of gun violence. He wants to share his journey and offer support, resources and encouragement to others who are also suffering as victims of gun violence.​  Rayshawn's mission is to affect lasting change in our community for victims impacted by gun violence.  Our goal is to provide resources, support and a safe place to engage and empower survivors of gun violence.  We do this by providing a support group for gun shot victims or victims who lost their ability to walk due to tragic circumstances. 

 

It is the hope of Unheard Voices that these victims come together to discuss and express their feelings openly about their injuries in order to ease depression and anxiety.  We believe that if we can have these individuals come together to tell their stories and support each other it will in turn build stronger families and ultimately stronger communities.  This, in turn, will show the upcoming generation the seriousness and the traumatic repurcussions of what it really means to be a victim of gun violence or suffering from a life-altering injury.  If we can expand this program locally and ultimately into other communities we hope it could decrease crime rates and bring positivity back into our communities.

At Unheard Voices, we believe that no-one should be in this fight alone and it is our goal to create an extended family for these individuals so we can all fight together.
